Internet and Computer Use Policy

Oregon Public Library provides access to the internet, computers, and other digital resources as an integral component of library service. The Library has no control over the information accessed through the internet and cannot be responsible for its content. Patrons must share the responsibility of evaluating the validity of information retrieved from the internet. Use of the Library’s digital resources will be consistent with the library’s mission, goals, policies, and procedures, and with all applicable local, state, federal, and international laws.

Accessing the internet through the Library must be done in a responsible manner, while respecting the rights of others and utilizing the equipment with care. To comply with State and Federal laws governing internet access by minors, the Library has content filtering software on all computers and wireless networks. Filtering does not block all sites that patrons may feel are offensive and does block some sites that may be valid and inoffensive. Parents or guardians, not the library or its staff, are responsible for their children’s behavior and information accessed on the internet.
Holiday Hours

The Library reserves the right to monitor computer and wireless use. Violation of the Computer and Internet Use Policy may result in the loss of access to the Library’s resources. The Library reserves the right to set rules as needed to promote equitable computer use.
